SEW FAB THERMAL COOKING BAG

The secret lies in the Sew Fab Bag’s unique insulation that delivers outstanding thermal performance. Perfect for soups, casseroles, chillies, curries, biryanis, rice puddings and more, using the Sew Fab Bag not only slashes energy bills but also preserves more nutrients in your food. And with its portability, it’s ideal for camping, picnics, road trips, and catering events.

The Sew Fab Thermal Cooking Bag is not just a cooking tool; it’s a step toward sustainable living.

Saving Energy and the Planet

Each Sew Fab Bag is crafted from end-of-roll luxury materials generously donated by UK fabric companies. By repurposing these textiles, with every bag we create we save 5kg of fabric from ending up in landfills.

Saving You Money

Traditional cooking methods often require hours of continuous energy use, but with the Sew Fab Thermal Cooking Bag, you only need 10 minutes of active heating. The bag then takes over, slow-cooking your food for 2 to 4 hours without any additional energy consumption. Over time, this can lead to significant savings on energy bills.

For example, cooking a meal for 4 hours on an electric stove typically uses approximately 1.5 kWh of electricity, costing around 50p to £1 per meal (based on UK electricity prices of ~34p per kWh). Using the Sew Fab Thermal Cooking Bag instead, you reduce this to just 10 minutes of stove use, saving up to 90% on energy costs per meal.

For daily use, this can result in savings of £150–£300 per year, depending on your cooking habits and energy tariffs.

The Sew Fab Thermal Cooking Bag simplifies meal preparation, allowing parents to start a meal in just 10 minutes and let the bag do the rest of the work. By the time the family is ready to eat, the food is perfectly cooked, warm, and ready to serve; without the need for additional energy or supervision. This not only saves you time but also reduces household energy costs, making it an economical and practical solution for modern families.

Perfect for Busy Families

The Sew Fab Thermal Cooking Bag doubles as a freezer bag when paired with ice packs, making it a valuable tool for households, catering businesses, and outdoor enthusiasts. For families, it’s perfect for storing and transporting chilled groceries or pre-frozen meals. Caterers can rely on it to keep desserts and frozen items frozen or chilled during events, while campers and hikers can use it to preserve perishable food items on weekend trips.

Freezer Bag Functionality

Larger-sized Sew Fab Thermal Cooking bags can be used to cook and transport food in bulk while maintaining precise serving temperatures. Hot dishes such as curries, casseroles, and soups can be cooked at your base location, placed in the thermal bags, and transported directly to events while remaining piping hot and ready to serve. The lightweight and portable nature of the thermal cooking bags makes them ideal for caterers operating at remote venues or outdoor events.

Unlock Potential for Catering Businesses

Empowering Communities Through Cookonomics Events

Heat Food
Use a metal or cast iron casserole pan with a lid for best results. Bring your food to a full boil and let it cook for at least 10 minutes before placing it in the Sew Fab Thermal Cooking Bag. Fill your pan to at least 75% of its capacity. A fuller pan retains heat more effectively. Wrap the pan in a large towel before fitting it into the Sew Fab Bag. This ensures the pan lid remains in place and makes handling easier, as the pan may remain very hot even after 4 hours.

Seal the Sew Fab Bag Securely

Place one thermal cushion at the bottom of the bag. After placing your wrapped pan inside, position the second cushion on top of the pan. Pull the cord tightly to encase the pan, ensuring all thermal cushions are snugly wrapped around it. Leave the bag sealed for a minimum of 2 hours to achieve optimal cooking results. Avoid opening the bag to check on the food, as this will release heat and reduce its cooking efficiency.

Follow Food Safety Guidelines

Ensure all food, especially meat and poultry, is cooked to safe temperatures before using the thermal bag with an internal temperature of at least 75°C. According to UK food safety regulations, hot food must be kept at 63°C or above during serving to prevent bacterial growth. Do not use frozen meats. Always fully defrost meat and poultry before cooking. For safety, use a food thermometer to verify the food's temperature before serving. Reheat if the temperature falls below 63°C.
